Our History
1988
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
In a pivotal moment that would define the next three decades, the Directors embarked on an ambitious endeavour with the acquisition of the first plot of land at Victoria Point. It would later become clear that this site would be perfect for a retirement village. Making it the third village built by the Directors, after they embarked on the journey of creating leading village communities in Cleveland and Birkdale in the late 1980s. Renaissance Victoria Point, originally known as Victoria Manor would be a hallmark development for the organisation and local community alike. Driven by a vision to create a meticulously crafted village to redefine the essence of retirement living, inherently centred around residents and lifestyle.
2003
CONSTRUCTION STAGE ONE BEGINS
Construction broke ground in 2003 and from the beginning this project was infused with a vision far beyond simply building quality seniors accommodation; it was about creating a sanctuary that fosters community, support and an enriching lifestyle. As the physical structure began to take shape and plans for the future came to life, the surrounding area in Victoria Point also transformed. The Victoria Point Shopping Centre next door and Lakeside project were busily being established at the same time. A truly well-timed convenience for Renaissance residents then and now.
2004
COMMUNITY STARTS TO FORM
On the 26th of May 2004, we welcomed the first residents into 1st Avenue, marking a momentous chapter! As the pioneer members of our community began to call this haven their home, they too helped shape Village life and establish many of the Village traditions we celebrate today.
2007
DEVELOPMENT TAKES SHAPE
On the 28th of October 2007, the Honourable Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO officially opened the Leisure Centre precinct at a wonderful community celebration with many distinguished guests, residents and family, as well as members of the public. The day of celebration marked a milestone for the Village and its residents. The Leisure Centre precinct continued to grow over the years, becoming the heart of the Village. Enjoyed by residents daily for its state-of-the-art amenities as a place to gather, connect and enjoy.
2009
CONSTRUCTION STAGE TWO BEGINS
In 2009, another key milestone included the completion of the road bridge leading over to Phase 2 of the development and subsequent commencement of construction on the western side of the Village. Phase 2 development would eventuate to include 14 avenues and 129 villas.
2016
NEW CONNECTIONS ARE FORMED
On 22nd July 2016, the opening of the Wirawira Walkway was a significant addition to the village landscape. The pedestrian Walkway travels over the natural waterway, providing a physical link across the village, as well as facilitating easy access and providing the opportunity to engage with the beauty of nature on our doorstep.
2017
THE GRAND FINALE
In October 2017, a significant chapter came to a close as construction was completed with the unveiling of 33rd Avenue. This marked the culmination of years of meticulous planning and development and the realisation of the original vision for a comprehensive, fully formed community. This moment was a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved as the village reached a new stage of maturity and was now bustling with life.
